The young trendy Dutch hotel group have just opened their latest luxury boutique hotel very close to the Tate Modern and the Millenium Bridge, in central London. Designed by Concrete Architectural Associates, the new hotel adheres to the philosophy of the group, ‘affordable luxury for the people’.

Being close to the mecca of modern art in the metropolis, it comes as no surprise that CitizenM supports the movement, evident from the text on the exterior by Turner prize contender, Mark Titchner, which states,’ Another World is Possible’, to the impressive mural by the artist collective, Assume Vivid Astro Focus, inside the hotel.

On entering the hotel, the reception resembles a living room rather than a sterile commercial space,  thanks to a selection of furniture  by Vitra. The homely theme continues into the eatery, ‘canteenM’, which brings to mind a family kitchen. It is open from the morning with baked goods and goes through to the evening hours for light meals or cocktails. The  in-house book store, which resembles a large black book, offers guests and visitors the option of a home mailing service for all purchases.

The 192 luxury rooms are built around a central atrium, an area with trees and plants. Facilities include 7 meeting rooms, plus additional work space in each room with hi tech control systems via an ipad, in fact a home away from home for business people and visitors alike.
